The little swirl in the water lands is the Wellspring that the characters must visit and bathe in if they want to make a wish. The larger blue areas are extremely deep lakes.
The two volcanoes are not dormant but the region around is extremely fertile so many Nexians take the risk of living there for the crops and animals it brings in.
The rivers all flow and connect to the Circle River and while they contain magic as well, they contain less than the Circle River itself.
