Applications

fandom character application.

This is the application form for any fandom character you wish to apply for to join the

nexus.

Please make sure you read the Rules and FAQs first.

OOC Info
› Your Name/Handle: What we should call you.
› Personal Journal: Your personal journal on DW, LJ or another blogging site, if you have one. 
› Other Contact: Any contact information you wish to provide in case we need to get ahold of you. AIM, Plurk, email, and DW PM are all acceptable. You must include at least one.
› Other Characters Played: Self explanatory. Put "N/A" if you don't have other characters in-game at this time.
› Your Age: Only players age 18 and older are permitted to apply. Comments on the application page are screened, so no one will see this but the mods.
› Reserved?: If you have reserved, please provide the link here.

Character Info
› Canon: Please also note here which kind of media it is.
› Character Name (First, Last): Must be in Western format, regardless of where the character is from.
› Canon Point: From what point on the timeline are you taking your character? Episode number, chapter number, route, end of a certain volume, in-series date, etc. We need this because it may affect your character's actions or knowledge. If you are apping this character with previous game memories, include both their point on the timeline in canon and from what point during/after their previous game stay.
› Character Age: How old is the character? Estimate as well as you can if canon does not explicitly state anything.
› Sex/Gender: The character's physical sex in canon, and gender in the case that they identify differently.
› Appearance: Include a brief description of the character. You may write this out or link an image. Characters who are not already 18+ at their canon point will be physically aged up to 18, so note any changes that will be made to their appearance.
› Suitability: This section is required for all characters regardless of age. Explain using canon information why your character is suitable for the mature setting of Nexus. The younger the character is in canon, the stronger of an argument you will need to make. This is important and we will ask for a revision if you've left it out or what you've written isn't sufficient. Simply stating the character is 18+ is not enough, and will earn you a revision request.
› History/Background: Here you need to provide details on your character's history and background. You may write it out or provide a reference link. Please be thorough if at all possible. We will ask for more information if what you've supplied isn't sufficient.
› Personality: We need at least 350 words. Habits, speech patterns, psychology, traits, etc. Everything that makes the character recognizable as them. This is the most important part of your application. Please include at least one paragraph at the end about how they will react to Nexus and the mature nature of the setting. This is important and we will ask for a revision if you've left it out or what you've written isn't sufficient.
› Previous Game Memories: A minimum of two reasonably sized paragraphs. The longer your character was in that game, the longer we expect this section to be. Be certain to detail any important aspects or experiences your character went through in that game, important relationships formed, and anything else that would dictate the way the character developed. Obviously characters will grow and adapt, but we still expect changes to remain within the scope of the character even with such developments. You may link to publicly accessible content from their previous game to show examples if you like, though this is not required by any means. If you are not apping a character with previous game memories, put "N/A".
› Sexuality: State the character's orientation and back it up with a few examples of evidence found in canon. If there is absolutely nothing to go on as is the case with some characters, you may put 'unknown'. This section may be a maximum of 200 words. We'd like to see some thought put into this. Keep in mind that while CR can influence a character's orientation and change it, particularly in sex games, any changes should still be realistic for the character.
› Abilities/Powers/Skills: Is your character great with technology or do they have supernatural abilities or strength? Are they a trained fighter? Do they have extra keen hearing on the level of a dog's? This is where you talk about that. 
› Items: Most characters will not arrive with any items, including clothing. There are, however, some exceptions. If there is an item that is essential to your character's well-being, e.g. a cane they need to walk, you may list it here so they can find it when they wake up in Nexus. You may also list any weapons or magical items important to your character. These will be in the care of the Temple Elder when your character arrives, and will soon be returned to them.
› Additional Notes: Anything else we need to know about the character?
› Sample First Person: At least 150 words, or 30 comments or more made by your character. The sample should show a good example of the character's voice.
› Sample Third Person: At least 250 words of third person prose. Do not use action brackets. It is more important to focus on the character's thoughts while they do whatever they're doing. 
› Do you agree to abide by the rules and guidelines outlined on the Rules and FAQ? This question is here to make sure you've read everything you're supposed to. If you haven't, please go do it now. Stating "Yes" here means you acknowledge that you have read these and that you agree to follow the rules as stated on them while in the game. Please answer it seriously. These informational pages will always be around for reference, and if you have any questions that were not answered in them, you may ask in the FAQ post.

samples and notes.

Applications are always open, and the mods will process them regularly. Some may take longer to process than others due to familiarity and our need to research. You may play up to five characters at a time, but as long as you abide by that, there is no limit on how many characters you may apply for in a given period of time. We will change this if it becomes a problem, so please keep it in mind. You may play up to two characters from the same canon as long as they aren't too close.

Be certain to mark the subject of your app's comments to include CHARACTER NAME, CANON (or OC if the character is one), and RESERVED/NOT RESERVED.

You may use for your samples any threads or posts from memes or other games as long as they fit the sample type's requirements and are less than a year old. Multiple threads are fine within reason. Threads made in

nexustestdrive are also fine. Simply link to them in the appropriate section.

If you are asked for revisions, don't fret! All it means is that we need more clarification or information before making a decision. You will have one week to supply us the necessary revisions. Two revisions will be allowed before applications for that character will close for the player.
