central temples.
● The Temple of Body
The Temple of Body is half of the great circle temple in the centre of the Nexus Web and is all decorated in black, dark woods and deep coloured foliage. The Elder of Body resides here.
This half of the Joined Temples focuses on keeping the body hale and healthy and is the place to go for any kind of medicines and healers.
● The Temple of Spirit
The Temple of Spirit is half of the great circle temple in the centre of the Nexus Web and is all decorated in white, light woods and pastel coloured foliage. The Elder of Spirit resides here.
This half of the Joined Temples focuses on keeping the mind and spirit happy and healthy. Here, the soul can be soothed and put at peace.
water lands.
● The Wellspring
A spiral surrounded by little springs all around it. This is where the magic is concentrated. Thicker than the water in which is flows, only here can a wish be made that has a chance to be granted. However, bathing in the waters can sometimes have an unexpected side-effect, more likely to be found here than elsewhere in the Nexus World. That is not to say that drinking or bathing in other water may not have side-effects as well.
● Balneum
Balneum is the largest town in the Water Lands and it borders on the largest lake in the world and a river. Out in the river are docks and it has a roaring fishing trade, sending the bulk of the fish around the Nexus World. Occasionally, they will catch sight of a mermaid or a bahamut, but in general it is a pretty vibrant town.
● Naiad
Naiad is the smallest of the settlements in the Water Lands, a tiny hamlet near the Wellspring. It lies between the Wellspring and the marshes and is made up of water-top dwellings. It is where most people will transport to before making the rest of their pilgrimage to the Wellspring unless they are travelling on foot.
● Clepsydra
Clepsydra is a vibrant hub town, the best place to go if you require anything from the Joined Temples. Aside the only river that leads directly to the temples it has first pickings of all of the items that come out of there.
● Hyetal
Hyetal is a very eclectic town, attracting great thinkers and general eccentrics. Here you will find the most amazing inventions and the place for 'Eureka!' moments...if you can keep the locals focused for long enough. Hyetal is the origin of both the trains and the transporter pads.
● Weir
Weir serves mostly as a postal/check point town as all water-based deliveries to Balneum have to pass by here. They built a weir from natural materials and are extremely proud of their town for accommodating the needs of nature and the needs of those in Balneum.
air lands.
● Anemoi
Anemoi is a very open-plan village, all of the residents building their homes further apart than in any other settlement to allow air flow.
● Zephyrus
A mostly tree-top housed village, the residents here adore the play of starlight through the leaves and the whistle of the winds through the same. They build their homes up high for this and for protection and they utilise the trees and the ground below as their main source of food.
● Favonius
A large town built in the centre of the famed Air Plains, the wind here in good weather is pleasant and cool. In adverse weather, the residents bunker down as it turns in to a tornado playground.
● Iapyx
Iapyx is a varied town for weather, the winds of the Air Plains petering out they strike the river between them and Favonius, but the winds that remain pick up the moisture and make it cold in the winter months and humid in the summer months.
● Boreas
Boreas is the main town for the Air Lands, trading with Hyetal easily due to the lake they are both near and it contributed a lot to the development of the trains, helping those of their neighbour town to perfect the aerodynamics of the transport.
fire lands.
● The Southern Volcano
It has not erupted for many seasons but the area is extremely fertile due to the volcanic ash that sometimes comes down.
● The Northern Volcano
More active than the Southern Volcano, occasionally rumblings can be felt around the great fiery peak.
● Bel
Bel is the gateway to the Fire Lands and due to the proximity to the Joines Temples and the fertile Southern Volcano, a huge amount of trade and produce comes through here.
● Agni
Agni is a hamlet that values privacy. They rarely let outsiders in unless on life energy business and they usually expel them again soon after. There are rumours flying that The Brethren started here, but no one knows for sure.
● Ignea
Prospering from the most fertile lands in the entire world, it is extremely dangerous here. The volcano erupts every few seasons and so the residents here do not put too much store by permanence. Everything is built to be transitory and easily and quickly moved in case those rumblings get more frequent. Most believe the pay off is worth the risk.
● Flagrate
Between the Southern Volcano, a river and a mountain range, Flagrate is as safe as a town can be. It is protected but that does not mean the residents are careless. They are the least pacifistic of the Nexians and they were the first to embrace learning arms in order to fight off The Brethren if needed. Many make the journey here to learn how to protect themselves.
● Oya
Hot, wet and humid. If you can bear the heat, Oya is an amazing small town. Full of the party spirit any that want to enjoy life without too many responsibilities and ties will find this fits them perfectly.
earth lands.
● Medeina
Almost encircled by a loop of the river, Medeina used the water power to help drill in to the rocks. The homes here are sturdy and squat and can withstand almost anything. The people here are hardy, headstrong and steadfast.
● Druantia
Part on the agricultural plains, part up the side of the mountain range, Druantia is a sprawling town. So large it has the densest population of any settlement outside of the Temples. While the land is not as fertile as the volcanic zones, it has far less risk and can still harvest a huge yield. Life here is busy and full but very satisfying.
● Lempo
Lempo has channels dug in all of the rocky walkways and fantastic irrigation - it needs it as the lake sometimes breaks banks and floods the town. If you want someone who knows all about irrigation and stonework, this is the place to go.
● Selvans
Selvans is a small town, mostly cut off from the outside world except fot the river that terminates at the settlement. While they can be inwards-looking at times, they are open and friendly should someone come to visit.
● Damu
Damu is built entirely inside the mountain's peak. Starlight has been replaced with magical lamps and the residents are always perfecting their stonework and strengthening their homes and the mountain itself.
the circle river.
● The Waterfall
The place that keeps the water flowing, the waterfalls are huge, dangerous and beautiful. The magic and water that flow over this drop flow and flood the area, giving the marshes life.
● The Rocks
A large area full of huge rocks, making traversing difficult and dangerous. The Rocks can easily tear the hull from a ship and only very experienced captains dare it without the aid of expensive water or air magic.
