Bestiary
bestiary.
Abada
The Abada strongly resembles the Unicorn. They bear on their heads two crooked horns instead of one straight horn. They are the size of a small donkey, have a dark bay colour and have a boar's tail. Its diet only consists of plants. It is just as shy and reclusive as the unicorn, however it will appear before non-virgins unlike its cousin.
Danger rating: N/A
Adar Llwch Gwin
Giant birds that can understand human speech. They might take orders if given, but be careful how you word things for they will take it literally and in the most simple manner possible.
Danger rating: Dependant on their mood
The Bahamut
Bahamuts are giant dragons that live in the water. They are extremely large and serpentine in look. They are hard to find and extremely dangerous. They are easily provoked in to attack if you are near their lair or go anywhere near their offspring.
They will also occasionally attack unprovoked and like to live in the deepest parts of the Circle River, sometimes surfacing and bathing in the starlight.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Behemoth
Despite their size and slow demeanour, these creatures are much more intelligent than most human beings on average. They will resemble great, bipedal shaggy lions with scale tails that are sharp enough to cut muscle easily. They have white fur and it can change all of the colours of the rainbow depending on their mood. They usually take a bit to anger but it is not wise to provoke them.
Danger rating: ☠☠
Carcarias Megalodon
There are rumours of gigantic shadows passing under ships, of creatures that cause the other sea creatures (even the big, scary ones) to move out of migratory patterns.
Have caution. Do not get close.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠☠
Centaur
Centaurs are aloof and proud. Often they will simply ignore your presence but beware to not insult them. They do not like it. They are expert archers as well and are usually found either in a forested area on roaming the plains of the Air Lands.
Danger rating: Ranged, it depends on how you approach them.
Dobhar-chú
It resembles both a dog and an otter and lives in water and has fur with protective properties. It has a haunting screech and orange flippers. It will occasionally come on to land to attack someone who has been at the water's edge.
Danger rating: ☠☠
Dodo
A flightless bird that seems to like roaming the Air Plains. They are not very intelligent and they seem unafraid of humans. Taken as a pet, though, would not be a wise idea as they can be somewhat destructive.
Danger rating: N/A
Eleionomae
They live in the marsh lands around the Wellspring. The Eleionomae often misled travellers with their illusions. The illusions constituted images of a traveller's loved ones and they would then often try to seduce them. Their favourites are virgin boys.
Danger rating: None.
Encantado
Dolphins that can take on human shape and walk on land (but they have to hide their blowholes with a hat as they do not lose these). They like shiny trinkets to take back in to the water and their lairs. They usually shift at night and have a weakness for parties and for sexual presence. They will be attracted to places where sex has taken place and watch if it is still in progress.
Danger rating: None.
Faeries
The tiny faeries rarely show themselves and when they are visible it will only be to characters with magical abilities. They live around the wellspring and do not like to venture far unless they have bonded with someone.
A faerie might choose to bond with a character and come to live in their homes where they will demand a water feature to live in. They will confer serenity on the home and protection against magical attack within the confines of the home.
They are also proud, however. If insulted they will break their bond immediately and the character's home will suffer a susceptibility to magical attack for one month after.
Danger rating: N/A
Garuda
The garuḍa possesses a man's body with golden skin, a white face with an eagle's beak and red wings. They are large, and are capable of blocking out starlight with their wings when in flight.
Their wings, when beat in anger, can easily knock down buildings. They are more likely to be angered by a male/genderless than a female.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Ghoul
These are usually intangible terrors that will assume the shape of a terrifying monster to attack and devour their prey. They can only be killed once they take a shape. They are most commonly found in the desert regions of the Fire Lands and in other scarcely populated areas.
They are high on the danger scale because of the limited amount of time that they can be harmed. They do not take on the abilities of whatever they shape-shifted in to.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Harpies
Winged women. They are vicious and cruel and like to steal food.
Danger rating: ☠☠
Hippogriff
The Hippogriff is a creature that has the head of an eagle and the body of a horse. It is a beautiful creature (coming in all the same coats a horse can) and very proud. Insult one and it might be the last thing you ever do.
They are more often found in the forests of the Air Lands than anywhere else.
Danger rating: ☠☠
Homunculus
Homunculi are a side-effect of the Brethren's attack just like the other characters and creatures brought here, except the soul has not emerged properly. It has become twisted, stunted and cannot inhabit a real form.
Instead, it has a body it is unused to and the spirit within in bitter and angry. The homunculus is very rare and when encountered, it is best fled from unless the person has great enough magical power to subdue it.
Danger rating: ☠☠
Ichthyocentaurs
Marine centaurs with the upper bodies of men, the lower fronts of horses, and the tails of fish. Skilled with darts and tridents. As proud as their land counterparts.
Danger rating: Ranged, it depends on how you approach them.
Ifrit
Spirits of the Fire Lands, they prefer the areas in and around the volcanoes.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Jerff
A dog with catlike features and ears. It is a notorious symbol of gluttony because of the strange eating habits it has. It will make a kill and then gorge itself until it is swollen and unable to eat more, at which point it will find two trees and squeeze itself in between them, pushing the meat through its own body before returning to the kill and repeating the process.
Danger rating: ☠
Kofewalt
The little kofewalts are the size of a toddler and yet they roam the Earth Lands outside of the cities and villages, alone. They are extremely dangerous as they have extremely sharp teeth and nails for close-range combat (a light scratch from one of these would cause a serious injury) and they also have large reserves of dark magic.
They look like little, wrinkled old men (even the female ones) but give off an aura that makes even the hardiest soul want to steer clear. They are never seen within the limits of human habitation.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠
Moroi/Moroaică
The male is the moroi and the female the moroaică. These creatures look perfectly human (most of the time) but they are barred entry to human settlements by magical rites at any possible entrance.
When the moon rises, their skin takes on a pearlescent glow and their fingers taper in to points as do their teeth. They like to feed on blood, animal or human, and stalk their prey.
A fight with a moroi/moroaică should be discussed with a mod. It can only take place in a wilderness area and should a bite be inflicted, it would have repercussions for the character (they will not 'turn', but they will have disadvantages such as wards working against them better and feeling pain within the Temple confines).
Danger rating: ☠☠
Sandwalker
Giant scorpions with two sets of pincers. They lurk in the sands of the Fire Lands desert and usually steal cattle, camels, and horses as food. Their shells are strong, and their sting can kill a man instantly - not because of the poison but because of the sheer size of the talon, which can pierce a man through. They leave crab-like tracks in the sand.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Sirens
Beautiful winged mermaid-like women whose irresistible song lured sailors to their deaths.
Danger rating: ☠☠☠☠
Sphinx
The Sphinx is a species of cat with the wings of an eagle which will appear to have no magical properties at a glance. Rather, the presence of a Sphinx in the home of those who were brought to Nexus (as opposed to the Nexians, who chose to stay there) will clear their heads, make them generally happier and as conduits of life energy, make them much more eager to have sex with others. If a Sphinx takes harm, there will be repercussions (if you wish to harm a sphinx, please notify a mod so an IC punishment can be arranged).
If more than one sphinx is present in the home then the desire to copulate will be increased by the number of sphinxes.
Danger rating: N/A
Unicorn
Majestic hoofed beasts that resemble white mares. They shine like moonlight and have one horn upon their foreheads. Their presence cures disease and illness, and their horn is a remedy against poison. They appear only to those who are virgins, and in the Nexus, this is a very rare occurrence. Even after parts have been harvested from unicorns, the parts remain invisible to non-virgins.
