World Guide

world guide.

The air is thick with magic and brimming with energy. The colours are lush and the claim that this world grew all others from it feels very true as you move through the flora and fauna of the Nexus World.

Excepting the two Temple Elders, there are no natives to this land at all, all here either chose this or were brought here by accident. They have made it their home and ensure it flourishes.

Looking in to the sky, there is no sun or moon, only a blanket of twinkling stars. These stars are all new connections and offshoots of the Web. Each twinkles to the world below and lights it. These star-connections change colour during the day, from being blazing yellows and oranges in the day hours to being soothing whites and blues at night. They provide enough light and warmth that those from worlds with suns would not feel like they were without. This also means that vampires from canons that suffer from sunlight damage will have no restrictions by day.

There might not be a moon, but there is an effect on moon-sensitive characters such as werewolves. This comes from the ebb and flow of the Circle River and the mystical wellspring. For the dates of the 'full moon' and 'new moon' equivalents, check the month's calendar.

The Nexus contains the four base elements - earth, fire, air and water - as well as the building blocks for life - the body and the spirit. All are represented with their own areas.

In the centre of the world is the huge circular Joined Temple; one comma shape represents the body and the other fitted snugly to it is the comma shaped spirit.

Around the temple are the four quarter-circle lands. Fire and Earth top the circle and air and water make the bottom. They are all encircled by the Circle River - off of which none can fall. If someone attempts to jump or throw something off of the side, they will simply find themselves stuck there, but facing back in to the world itself.

The Fire Lands are rich in volcanic-ash fertile lands around the two volcanoes but they are still active and it can be somewhat hazardous. The rest of the lands between the volcanoes and the water is desert-like but many interesting water-filled plants and adaptive wildlife live here. Nearer the segment of the Circle River, there are beaches and it is warm and lush.

The Earth Lands are rocky in places and mountainous. There is more variation to each landscape here than any other area. The rest of the lands are flat and perfect for agriculture.

The Air Lands alternate between lush forests, where most of the locals live in the trees, and huge open plains. These are beautiful and fresh but occasionally they can turn in to windy flats.

The Water Lands are mostly set upon a huge lake and the Circle River. Fish and other aquatic flora and fauna flourish here and many homes are built on the lakes and rivulets (akin to Venice) or close to one of the bodies of water. It can also be dangerous if you are careless as the lush plants can hide deep pools or carnivorous creatures.

The Circle River is both magical and regular water, the two mixing together and swirling. The colours are amazing to look upon, in an effect like those of the Aurora Borealis (video plays music).

The people that call this place their home have always been very pacifistic, but they are troubled by The Brethren - those who went rogue and brought these others to this world without their own choice.

They know that should the Brethren succeed, life and death will be flung out of balance and more worlds than just their own will be jeopardised by this need for immortality by so few.

While they would prefer to keep all fighting from their lands, they have started to accept that it is not always possible, especially now that some troubling and dangerous creatures have been drawn in and begun to live in the Nexus.

They allow the newcomers to fight and have grudgingly begun to learn some basic combat skills themselves in case they are put in a position where they have no choice but to fight. They still prefer to leave it to the newcomers where possible, though.
